The reason why you are often embarrassed when meeting new people is often related to a complex you have with yourself. My complex is related to teeth! We all remember that moment when you have an insecurity and try to hide it. When the irregularity of the teeth is very visible, the embarrassment to smile is constant.
While most of those who have had problems with the regularity of their teeth have solved it in their teenage years or earlier, there is another category of people who are trying to take a step to change their smile even in their 20s or 30s. at.
Not only are straight teeth more attractive, but they can be kept clean more easily, therefore causing fewer problems such as tooth decay.
Okay, I know wiring isn't the most exciting thing, but it's an investment you'll be proud of for a long time. If you are going to take the same step as me, then here are the answers to some questions that have been bothering you for a long time.
1. How much do the wires cost?
This is the first problem that plagued me too. The goal was to fit them, but first I had to visit several dental clinics to find the most reasonable price, but without sacrificing quality. I visited 3 different dental clinics in different areas of Tirana.
Metal wires are the most economical. The average price I was offered was 900 euros and every visit I needed for the occasional brace tightening was free. If I were to choose ceramic wires, the price varied in different dental clinics from 1.100 euros to 1.300 euros.
As for the latest technology method, known as "Invisalign 3D", I was offered a price from 1.100 euros to 1.600 euros. "Invisalign" is a plastic wrap of the teeth and the price I had to pay would depend on the masks that would be created to fix my problem.
My solution was to make the payment in installments. Remember that one of the main questions when you go to inquire about wires is to ask about the method of payment. Often dental clinics offer the option of paying a certain cost each month until the end of your treatment.
2. Do they hurt?
The answer is "yes". But before you panic, like I did, I realized that the discomfort the camera gives you is usually as little as a slight headache. The most pain is usually felt in the first days and after the tightening. This is a slight pain in the jaw or like a pressure. To keep it under control, I kept ice or frozen vegetables outside my jaw and took painkillers.
3. What foods should I not eat?
When I first had the wires put in it was like a weird feeling and it was a little hard to eat most foods because I felt a bit of pain in my jaw. During this time I ate soft foods, such as pasta, yogurt, soup. Over time as the discomfort went away I started eating other foods. But the dentist gave me a list of foods to avoid:
- Hard foods, such as nuts, candies, chips.
- Foods that are barely chewable, such as dried meat.
- Foods that stick to the teeth, like chewing gum.
- Foods you have to bite into, like apples or corn on the cob.
I often had to cut the foods into small pieces in order to consume them. Those who will choose the "Invisalign" device instead of the traditional one do not have to worry about the food they consume, it is enough to remove it every time they have a meal. Before eating a meal, the maskerina must be removed to be put back on after finishing.
4. How long should I keep them?
It depends on the problem that each one has. But on average, ordinary metal or ceramic wires take up to 1 year and a half (18 months), while the "Invisalign" device takes a shorter time, 5-8 months. The latter must be worn 22 hours a day.
5. How should I take care of my teeth when I have braces?
The main thing I did was diet in food, I eliminated foods that affect the color of the camera. This means I also avoid sugary foods, as they can cause bacteria to build up leading to tooth decay. The ones that were never missing from my bag were a toothbrush, toothpaste and a toothbrush (the one for cleaning the wires). Also the brushing process took longer, but I made sure to do it the right way.
It may seem very tiring, but when you see the result, you will realize that all this effort was worth it.
