Dua Lipa u shpall fituese vetëm në një kategori në ceremoninë e ndarjes së çmimeve MTV VMAs që u mbajt të dielën ne LA California.
Këngëtarja shqiptare, jo vetëm që nuk ishte prezente në ceremoni, as me video, ashtu si shumë artistë të tjerë, por as nuk ka bërë një reagim për këtë çmim.
Dua Lipa u nominua në 4 kategori, të cilat lidheshin më tepër me vlerësime teknike sesa të muzikës së saj. “Don’t Start Now” u nominua për Best Direction, ndërkohë që “Physical” u nominua për Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects, dhe Best Choreography.
“Physical” fitoi çmimin për Best Visual Effects, për efektet më të mira vizuale, vlerësim ky që nuk i jep meritat këngëtares për këngën, por studios që punoi klipin.
Kategoritë e përgjithshme dhe ato pop u dominuan kryesisht nga Lady Gaga dhe Ariana Grande, të cilat patën secila nga nëntë nominime.
Që nga publikimi i tij në mars “Future Nostalgia”, albumi i dytë i Lipës, është vlerësuar shumë si vepra e saj më e mirë deri më tani, por nuk gjeti mbështetjen në MTV VMAs.
Kjo nuk është hera e parë që Lipa del e zhgënjyer nga VMAs. Në vitin 2018, gati një vit pasi “New Rules” qëndroi në stratosferën e muzikës pop për muaj të tërë, Lipa nuk u nominua as për Artisten më të Re as për Best Pop.
Edhe këtë vit, ylli i muzikës pop u përjashtua nga të gjitha kategoritë kryesore, përveç atyre teknike, dhe duke njohur suksesin e saj në vitet e fundit, mund të themi se Dua meritonte më shumë!
