The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Besford Lamallari, invited to Top Story, stated that the Government is taking strong measures for social networks, mainly TikTok, which has recently become a source of crimes.
According to the minister, criminal offenses of cyber attacks have increased, an important factor that brought reaction. Lamallari stated that they have received real concerns, mainly for minors.
"The Ministry of the Interior has data reported by the cybercrime structure and we have seen a disturbing increase in criminal offenses from year to year. From 2022 to 2023, we have a 40.4% increase in criminal offenses, including offenses that threaten the welfare of minors. In the last meeting with the ministries and civil societies, it was reported that they had 350 phone calls a day about bullying or unsafe internet. Lamallari said.
The Minister explained that the Ministry of the Interior has talked with the people responsible for social networks and informed them about the real concern that mainly minors are going through. Lamallari announces that he will also have meetings with them.
"From these data, it screams that we have a lost life and we as a society, the Minister of the Interior, every institution and the media are reacting, because we should not wait for the next victim, including legislative measures or cooperation with organizations. This alarm was raised by these statistics, we have had contact with these organizations such as Meta TikTok to share with them the concerns we have and the measures to be taken. We have notified them and they have reacted, very soon we will have meetings to discuss the measures", he said.
