10 billion dollars! This is the amount that users around the world have spent on TikTok, making it the first non-game app to reach this level of revenue, and it is expected to become the highest-grossing app very soon.
A recent data.ai report lists four game apps that have reached these revenue figures: Candy Crush Saga, Honor of Kings by Tencent, Monster Strike and Supercell's Clash of Clans.
“TikTok is nearing the milestone of becoming the highest-grossing app ever. They are predicted to reach $15 billion in 2024. Users of this app spend $11 million a day,” said Lexi Sydow, head of data.ai, as she introduced the latest report.
TikTok's revenue comes from users buying gifts for influencers on the social network, which then keeps 50% of that amount, while the rest goes to users. But that's not all, as income is also generated from advertising. The report notes that the other two non-gaming apps, Tinder and YouTube, have reached between $2 billion and $3 billion as 2023 closes.
