Frequent seismic tremors have been recorded since early Wednesday morning on the coast of Crete, specifically in the maritime area south of Heraklion, causing concern among residents. However, at the moment there are no reports of damage or injuries. Specifically:
Three earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.1, 4.8 and 4.5 on the Richter scale have occurred in a short period of time in the maritime area, near Crete.
The first earthquake (at 11:22) had a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale, a focal depth of 10 kilometers and an epicenter 32 kilometers southeast of Miamos, Heraklion. The second earthquake (at 11:23) had a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale, a focal depth of 10 kilometers and an epicenter 16 kilometers southwest of Heraklion Tower.
The third earthquake (11:47) had a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale, a focal depth of 5 kilometers and an epicenter 22 kilometers southeast of Heraklion's Kale Ports. The new earthquake was recorded on the southern coast of Crete, with a small time difference from the previous two. The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was 22 kilometers south-east of Kala Liman in the municipality of Phaistos, in Heraklion. The focal depth, according to the Geodynamic Institute, was recorded at 5 kilometers.
