Martin Scorsese has sparked a lot of interest with his new film "Killers of the Flower Moon" and will receive the Golden Bear for his contribution to cinema at the Berlin Film Festival on February 20.
This is the most important award given at the annual Berlin International Film Festival.
Berlin Film Festival directors Carlo Satrian and Mariete Rischenbeck noted that the American director, screenwriter and producer is "an unsurpassed role model" for "anyone who sees cinema as the art of shaping a story in such a way that it is at the same time completely personal and global".
"His films accompanied our history as viewers and human beings, his characters lived and developed within us, his perspective on history and humanity helped us understand who we are and where we come from", emphasized Mr. Satrian.
