Police in the seaside village of Sag Harbor arrested Timberlake on June 18 after they said he ran a red light, swerved out of his lane and got out of his BMW reeking of alcohol, The Guardian reports.
So on Friday, Justin Timberlake made a virtual appearance in court for his drunken driving case in Long Island, saying little during the brief proceeding as the judge accepted his not guilty plea and suspended his right to drove to New York.
His attorney, Edward Burke Jr., has maintained that Timberlake was not drunk and that the case should be dismissed.
"The facts remain that he was not intoxicated," Burke said Friday, according to Newsday. "I'll say it again: Justin Timberlake was not drunk, and we are very confident that the charge, that criminal charge, will be dismissed."
Sag Harbor Village Judge Carl Irace suspended Timberlake's driver's license from Tennessee state to New York state and threatened to impose a gag order on Burke, saying the lawyer's comments to the media were inappropriate.
Irace set the next court date for August 9.
