Wrestler Zelimkhan Abakarov sends Albania to the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games.
In the 1/8 of the freestyle wrestling for the weight up to 57 kg, the Russian, naturalized as an Albanian, with difficulty passed the athlete from Guinea Bissau, Iuna Fafe Diamantino, with the result 6-7 with a reversal.
The first round spoke for the African, who sent the score to 5-0, before Abakarov reacted and in the second round turned everything in his favor, with the score 6-7. Abakarov managed to qualify by getting 6 technical points against his rival's one.
At the end of the match, Diamantino's coach Iuna Fafe also made a "challange", but the judges of the competition did not approve the claims, thus adding a point to the red and black wrestler.
Abakarov will now face the Indian Aman Aman in the quarterfinals, to continue the path to Albania's first historical medal at the Olympic Games. The quarter-final match is expected to take place today after 13:00.
