The head of Germany's police union, Jochen Kopelke, has emphasized the need to intensify security at events organized in the country. In an interview with the Rheinische Post newspaper, he suggested that this could be achieved through a greater police presence, the installation of entry barriers and the development of better-tailored traffic management plans.
Kopelke also requested more surveillance cameras and technology support through advanced software. He emphasized the importance of these technologies, noting that, as the Magdeburg case has shown, investigators are extremely dependent on video in investigations. In addition, he proposed the use of drones and other advanced cameras to monitor public spaces, making security more effective and controlled.
