Zyrafete Lajqi, the mother of Edmond Lajqi, who killed his wife in Peja the day before, passed away today.
The mother of the author of the serious incident died this morning in the hospital. Meanwhile, her son appeared before the court today after being accused of murdering his 43-year-old wife Gjyljeta Ukella.
The day before, Lajqi shot and killed his wife, the mother of three children, while she was having her morning coffee. He shot him from behind and then notified the police stating: "I killed the woman."
Today has been declared a day of mourning in Kosovo due to the killing of women.
Two women have been killed within a few days in Kosovo. One case happened in Ferizaj, the other in Peja (read here). In the first case, the suspect is the ex-husband, and in the second case, the victim's husband. The situation is being described as alarming, as urgent actions are being sought to prevent the killing of women.
