Authorities in Spain said 78 people were still missing, ten days after the country was hit by its worst storm in 100 years.
The government in Valencia, the region hardest hit by the floods, published this figure on Platform X. The number of missing was initially 93.
The official death toll from the floods is 219. In Valencia alone, the dead bodies of 211 people have been found so far, while eight victims have been recorded in the neighboring regions of Castilla-La Manças and Andalusia.
Since then, other regions of Spain have also faced bad weather. Torrential rains have caused flooding in Catalonia on Thursday and Friday, while the island of Majorca has also been hit hard by floods.
In Valencia, authorities are continuing to search for the missing, although regional authorities have said that 40 bodies that have been found have yet to be identified. It is feared that some of the victims' bodies may have ended up in the Mediterranean.
Also, the authorities in Spain are continuing the cleaning operations of 75 towns and villages that have been affected by the floods. Many buildings are still inaccessible or difficult to reach, as the roads are partially blocked by cars or even by the ruins of buildings.
