Demi Lovato once again caused a stir in the media with her latest statement, where she announced herself as gender non-deterministic. The singer will use the pronouns he and she for herself.
"I'm still learning and coming to my senses", she expressed.
This news was given by Lovato herself through a video published on Instagram.
"This has come after a lot of healing and self-reflective work. I'm still learning and coming into my own, and I don't claim to be an expert or spokesperson. Sharing this with you now opens up another level of vulnerability for me. I'm doing this for those out there who haven't been able to share who they really are with their loved ones. Please continue to live in your truths and know that I am sending so much love your way."
According to foreign media, the artist announced that she now officially has a non-binary (undefined) gender identity.
In July 2020, Demi Lovato got engaged to Max Ehrich and just two months later the two broke up. In a recent interview, the singer said that the separation was a big sign for her sexual orientation.
"When I started growing up, I started to realize how special I really am. Last year I was engaged to a man and when it didn't work out I thought 'This is a big sign'. I thought I would spend my life with someone. Now that it wasn't going to happen, I felt freer that I could live my truth", said Demi in an interview for "Glamour" magazine.
"I connected with a girl and then I realized that I liked this much more. I felt better. I was very fine. With the men I was in a relationship with, when it came to intimate relationships, I didn't want to do anything. It had nothing to do with the person I was with. I valued those people more for their friendship than for romance, and I didn't want romance from anyone else from the opposite sex," said Demi.
Recently, while talking about her sexual orientation, Demi has openly admitted that she is pansexual.
The singer admitted that she had a sexual awakening when she saw the famous kiss scene between Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair in the movie "Cruel Intentions 1999", but was definitely influenced by her conservative upbringing
“Oh, I loved it, but I felt so ashamed, because I grew up in Texas as a Christian, this is very disappointing. Every attraction I had for a woman at a young age, I kept it inside myself before processing what I was feeling," she said.
For all those who don't know, being pansexual means not being attracted to gender but only to the person, regardless of whether they are male or female. So, sexual orientation or gender identity is of no importance to them.
Asked if she wants to have children, Demi confessed that she wants to adopt.
She also talked about her broken engagement to Max Ehrich and what went wrong with it.
"I don't know, I was engaged to a man last year. I thought I would be married, maybe pregnant. And it's not like that. I know my life is not going according to my plan.
Life doesn't go according to any plan. So, yes, I want to have children, but I don't know, because that could change next week. I think that at this moment I want to adopt", said Demi.
