Chermen Valiev and Islam Dudaev gave two bronze medals to Albania, finally placing it on the list of countries that have secured medals at the Olympics. But, Albania was not the only "debut" in the list of medals in this edition, where three other countries have secured the first medals in their history.
The most important comes from the island of 'Saint Lucia' in the Caribbean, this country which with the athlete Julien Alfred won the gold in the 100 meters race and the silver in the 200 meters race.
Another Caribbean island won the first medal. Dominica entered the list with the gold medal of Tea Lafond, who triumphed in the three-step competition in athletics.
Meanwhile, Cape Verde, the tiny island off Africa, secured a bronze medal in boxing, with David De Pina among the medalists in the 51kg category.
