The Albanian Wrestling Federation, through a reaction made on social networks, accuses that the wrestler representing Albania in the Olympic Games, Chermen Veliev, was robbed of the victory in the quarterfinals. This is because according to the Federation, Valiev was dominant throughout the entire time against the wrestler from Uzbekistan, Zhamalov.
The accusations are against the referees of the match, who decided in the end for the result 6-5 in favor of Valiev's opponent, on Friday. But, regardless of the result, the Albanian Federation claims that there were open violations and unfair decisions in this match, which penalized Valiev.
"The Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in which we have entered the history of Albanian wrestling with three competitive athletes and everything is connected with only one name: Chermen Valiev.
It's the big injustices, because the little ones can be ineffective. Chermen Valiev in the quarterfinal match, in the last seconds, lost with an unfair referee's decision, 6-5 in favor of the wrestler from Uzbekistan, where the match was completely dominated by Valiev, but he was unable to get the denied victory.
With such great courage and so openly, yesterday they stole the final from our athlete and our dream and his, for the historic medal. This discrimination in this sporting event of such great importance really leaves something to be desired. Theft!", reads the Federation's post.
