The football world has received sad news with the passing of Manchester United's Scottish legend Denis Law at the age of 84. Law, known for his extraordinary contribution to football in the 60s and 70s, had long suffered from dementia.
The former striker was one of the biggest names of his era, and alongside Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best, formed one of the most feared front threes in English football history. Law will always be remembered for his exceptional skills on the pitch and the huge impact he had on the Red Devils.
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our father, Denis Law, has passed away at the age of 84. He fought a difficult battle, but is now finally at peace. We thank all those who have contributed to his health and care, in the past and in recent times. We know how much people have supported him and how much they have loved him. This love has always been appreciated and has made a difference," his family said in a statement on social media.
Condolences to his family and loved ones, and tributes for everything he has given to world football.
