Stomach ulcer is not a problem that heals itself, however there are some foods that ease the pain.
Such is the case with milk, which is soothing in case the ulcer pains are stronger when the stomach is empty.
What is peptic ulcer?
According to the data, peptic ulcer refers to an inflammation of the lining of the stomach or the first part of the small intestine.
It hurts a lot especially when the stomach is empty.
Other ulcer symptoms include:
bloating,
heartburn,
vomiting,
Weight loss.
One of the main causes of ulcers is the disruption of the balance of gastric juices as a result of an infection.
The latter is caused by a bacterium called H.pylori. Other causes are medications such as: aspirin, ibuprofen and others. Caffeine and alcohol are products that worsen ulcer symptoms.
Milk against ulcer pain
For many years, people who have suffered from peptic ulcers have believed that milk not only soothes the stomach but can also heal the ulcer. This is not true, at least not always.
Milk can help for a few minutes but it stimulates the production of hydrochloric acid and can make the ulcer worse.
This does not mean that milk should be avoided completely. Experts say that one or two cups of tea with milk a day is completely safe. However, the idea of drinking more milk to heal an ulcer is wrong.
Foods that irritate ulcers
Experts recommend giving up coffee, tea, carbonated drinks, chocolate, alcohol and fruit juices until the ulcer heals.
In some cases, people feel better if they consume less garlic, black pepper and chili pepper. Another effective method for alleviating pain is to eliminate eating between meals.
This reduces the amount of acidity produced by the stomach and hence the pain.
